Amyloid and Tau Protein
In Neurology, Amyloid- β peptides are proteolytic fractions of the transmembrane amyloid precursor protein, whereas tau is a brain-specific, axon- amended microtubule- associated protein.
Tau is another substance that builds up in Alzheimer's Disease complaint and damages brain cells essential for literacy and memory. Tau buildup is caused by increased exertion of enzymes that act on tau called tau kinases, which causes the tau protein to misfold and clump, forming neurofibrillary befuddlements.
